Get Your Hike On

Fall is hiking season! Looking to set off on your own adventure? Here are our top 5 recommended local hikes:

Berrypicker Hiking Trail This trail starts steps from our front door and provides access to the most amazing wildflowers and top of the world views! See if you recognize the trail compared to when it’s covered in snow! If you’re looking for a challenge, start at the bottom of the trail; it’s easy to find at the base of the Eagle Bahn Gondola, and hike to the top (about a 3.1 miles and a 2,000 foot elevation gain). Catch a ride down the gondola if your legs need a breatk! If you are looking for a (slightly) easier hike, take the gondola up and hike the trail down. The gondola is open weekends through September 29th.

Booth Creek Falls Close to Vail Spa and easily accessible with the free East Vail Blue Line bus from the Vail Transportation Center. This trail passes through a wide canyon with lush fields. Slow down and notice the sounds of the rushing creek and the wind in the trees as you climb to the waterfall. This trail is rated as moderate/more difficult but we see people of all ages enjoying themselves on the trail! If you’re looking for an even bigger adventure continue on to Booth Lake after the falls.

Meadow Mountain Loop Located in the cutest little mountain town of Minturn (about a ten-minute drive from Vail Spa). Expect wildflowers in open meadows, historic cabins and aspen forests located along your ascent. Finish off with a meal at Rocky Mountain Taco or Kirby Cosmo’s BBQ and experience a day in the life of a local.

North Trail Easy to access just across the highway from Vail Spa off Red Sandstone Road. This hike takes you through endless aspens, with views of Vail Pass and Vail Ski Resort. Great for all levels of hikers! The trail is 3.5 miles one way, but offers instant gratification for a shorter hike; adventure as far as you’d like!

Upper Piney River Trail This trail is fun for hikers of all ages and hiking abilities. Enjoy breathtaking views of the sharp peaks of the Gore Range and bring a picnic for a perfect day! The dirt road drive to this trail is bumpy but beautiful.
