Vail Spa is committed to being a sustainable business leader and reduce environmental impacts by engaging our owners, guests, employees and community through the use of responsible products and shared best practices. You might already know about some of the sustainable practices and projects we’ve taken on at Vail Spa over the years. These include:
•Single-stream recycling
•Purchasing sustainable, recycled and local products
•Installing programmable thermostats throughout common areas
•Modernizing elevator motors and the main air handler for the common spaces
•Switching to LED lighting in common areas including garages and fire stairs
•Installing solar panels on the roof to heat pools and common area domestic hot water
•Employees are encouraged to carpool or use public transportation (discounted bus passes) and receive up to 8 hours of paid volunteer time per year

Colorado Green Business Network We are proud to be recognized by The Colorado Dept of Public Health and Environment’s Green Business Network. Vail Spa is a Silver Certified Member of the Colorado Green Business Network. This is our statewide environmental recognition and reward program.We are proud to partner with the State to create a healthier, cleaner and more sustainable Colorado.
Actively Green The Actively Green Program was launched in the fall of 2013 by Walking Mountains Science Center as an initiative of the 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Vail and Beaver Creek. Vail Spa applied immediately and we were the third business in Vail to receive certification! Actively Green offers a local, credible certification program and sustainability management system through partnership with the global non-profit Sustainable Travel International. The Actively Green standard is also recognized by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council.
LED Light Bulb Swap Vail Spa has partnered with the Climate Action Collaborative to host an ongoing LED light bulb swap. Did you know that swapping just two old-tech light bulbs to LEDs will save $16/year on electric bills and cut 230 pounds of air pollution?
Walking Mountains Business Recycling Challenge Vail Spa participates in the Walking Mountains Business Recycling Challenge each fall. This thorough audit provided us with an action plan to increase recycling and reduce waste going to the landfill.
