Vail Veterans

Most people that have visited Vail know that our little slice of heaven was greatly influenced and by the impact of the 10th Mountain Division and it's soldiers. Many of the soldiers who fought in World War II had a common love for the outdoors, which translated to skiing.  And for some that passion led to the development of America's ski industry, especially here in Vail. To find out more about the 10th Mountain Division check out the Colorado Ski and Snowboard Museum Hall of Fame Vail recognizes  an opportunity to [...]

A Promise to Mother Nature

We are well on our way into the New Year and about a week into our New Year's Resolutions. This time of year can be stressful for some when trying to stick to a weight loss plan while staying on a tight budget. I decided to take a different route for my resolution this year and resolve to improve my impact on the environment, however small it may be, I know my effort counts. By focusing on what I can do for the environment, and more specifically being more conscious about [...]

Thank You Mother Nature

With another storm moving in and the current snowpack still looking good, it's time to get out there and get after it for one last frozen adventure. Here are some tips to capitalize on the gifts of snow and sunshine that mother nature has graciously provided us this spring: Be sure to get a good spring tune on your skis or snowboard before you head up the hill. This will greatly improve speed and mobility in the sticky spring conditions. Head over to Charter Sports  to get on the fast track to [...]

Hope on a Slope and How to Cope

The days are growing longer, and crystalline snow capped peaks give way to mountains of mud.  While some of us handle this transition with grace and hope for new adventures, others simply crumble like corn snow. We focus on the renewed feelings of spring in an effort to embrace the grace of mother nature, yet our thirst for fresh powder turns, and the sense of freedom found on the slopes cannot be quenched. Closing Day here in Vail brings about a slippery slope of  melancholy. Glorious pow stashes that free our [...]

Winter Wisdom

We all talk about the lazy days of summer, but what about the lazy days of winter? The first blizzard of the winter reminds us to slow down, be easy, don't rush. I hear the scrape of the plow for my alarm clock 15 minutes before my usual alarm, and I know I need to get up so I'm not in a hurry. Yet, as I approach the first roundabout a bit to fast, my tires slide as I tap the brake, at that point I know I'm not going [...]

Product Pride

At Vail Spa pride is more than just a virtue, it is part of our brand. I have never felt such an immense sense of pride, in my work, my team and most of all our leadership. The honor produced by our team's many accomplishments can be overwhelming and yet so fulfilling. " Pride and its accompanying stance serve as a signal of acceptance, belonging, ownership, or status. But aside from functioning as a social signal, pride promotes more of the same kind of choices and actions that led to it, and is [...]

Time to Winterize

When the rest of the country thinks about getting ready for winter they think about collecting fire wood, switching to snow tires, putting the snow brush back in the car and getting out boots and sweaters. That dreadful feeling returns because the rest of the country hates winter (from what I see on Facebook). I mean, I do empathize with these people because I grew up in western New York where winter is bone chilling and gray for 6 months of the year.  Up here in the high country we do [...]
