Mountain Biking & Cycling

Vail knows Mountain Biking. You can stick to Vail Mountain taking your bike up the gondola and flying down the single tracks or wide dirt roads. Or you can venture off Vail and explore the miles and miles of mountain bike trails throughout the Vail Valley.

You can test your fitness and ride up Vail Pass. Or many bike rental shops will drive you to the top and you can cruise down back to town. Because the path is not open to cars it feels very safe and comfortable.

Vail Spa concierge can help with bike and helmet rentals. Just ask!

Epic Discovery Top of Vail Mountain

Rafting & Stand Up Paddle

Beginning in late April, local outfitters run the Eagle, Colorado and Arkansas Rivers, offering thrill seekers a chance to splash through the rippling rivers and big rapids. Try the Night Vision Raft Trip with Timberline Tours for something out of the ordinary!

Colorado is known for some of the best white water in the country. Guests can enjoy anything from a lazy float to a heart-pumping Class V river adventure. Most outfitters offer transportation as part of the raft trip and some even offer overnight adventures.

Our concierge is more than happy to arrange a full family outing or a single day of stand up paddle just for you!

Hiking

One of the Vail Valley’s most popular summer activities. It’s free, as easy or strenuous as you want to make it, and the views are unprecedented. Hiking trail maps, available at the Vail Spa Front Desk, will guide you along marked trails, or take a guided nature hike with a local expert – great for all ages and ability levels.

Ride the Vail or Lionshead gondola up and hike around Vail Mountain or venture outside the Vail Valley to tackle one of Colorado’s famous fourteeners. Even though the altitude can take some getting used to, the Vail Valley has trails for beginners, children, and elderly hikers.

Be sure to pile on the sunscreen, bring lots of water, and pack an extra layer for when the sun goes down.
